Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below lists reserved time periods, not confirmed exams. Check with your instructor whether or not your course will be taking its final exam within this time.

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists the locations in which DEP conducts operator qualification exams. Please consult individual exam pages for additional guidelines, terms and conditions and exam material. The Faculty Dashboard in Workday includes an option to "View My Teaching Schedule" that allows faculty to locate their exam schedules. In addition the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for classes where an exam is required by NYSED regulations. For evening classes exams, they are scheduled during the regular class meeting time during the week of exams.

Although it is possible to take three tests in one day, it can cause an increase in stress levels and affect the quality of the exam. Students should review their course material before taking the exam and must practice their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test that measures the ability to speak, read and write in German. The test results are presented using a scale ranging from A1 to C2. Students who succeed in passing the test are awarded a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate demonstrates the that they have achieved the level of A1 in their language. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competency set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free of cost. Students must bring an official government ID to the examination. Those who do not have an ID with a valid photo will be disqualified from the examination.
Fees
You will have to pay an examination fee for the opportunity to receive the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This fee is in addition to the course fees.
Practice tests give you an overview of the style and wording, as well as the difficulty of questions on the test. They help you assess your understanding, find gaps and increase your chances of acing the exam.
It is important to note that the exam fee isn't refundable. Exam results can only by sent via email and not by phone.
